Which art board to choose for string art, MDF or wooden base?

The available options are a circle, square, triangle, hexagon, heart, and star.

When choosing an art board for string art, the most important factor is the thickness of the board. The base should be at least 1.5 cm thick to ensure that the nails do not come through when hammered.

Choose your favorite shape and color and bring your idea to life!

Create a unique decoration for your home or a special gift for your loved ones.

You can create string art in any shape, sentence, symbol, or even a geometric mandala or portrait using the string art technique. Choose a template from our online store or use any image from the internet as a reference.

How to treat wood and MDF board - paint, wax, oil, or varnish?

MDF art boards can be varnished, waxed, or oiled according to your preference and intended use.

Varnishing, waxing, and oiling are all different ways to protect and preserve wood or MDF board while achieving the desired appearance.

Varnishing provides a glossy protective layer that reduces the damaging effects of moisture and dirt. You can choose between glossy and matte finishes for varnishes.

Waxing gives a warm and natural look to the art board. The wax covers the board with a thin layer and provides a subtle sheen. Wax protects the board from water damage and scratches but is not as durable as varnish.

Oiling, on the other hand, gives the board a matte or satin appearance and protects it from moisture and dirt. Unlike varnishes and waxes, oil does not form a film on the wood. Instead, the oil penetrates the pores of the wood, giving it a natural look.

Before treatment, it is essential to sand the art board properly and remove any sanding dust. Also, ensure that the surface to be treated is clean and dry!

You can also paint an art board according to your preference. If desired, you can use the same color as your home walls or furniture to create a harmonious look. Use a suitable brush or roller to apply the paint evenly. If you want to paint the art board with nails, use spray paint.

Before painting, lightly sand the surface with sandpaper to remove any irregularities and improve adhesion. If desired, you can cover the painted art board with varnish to protect it from scratches and dirt and prolong its lifespan.
